I live in Southern Pines and know how good it is for horses, the mild climate, the forgiving footing, and lots of good horse people. This would be a beautiful area for horse retirement. I can think of a few favorites... Bold Minstrel... and I really think we, the horse community, need a place to remember our great horse partners. Good idea, I'm all for it!

I think the idea of The Southern Pines Sport Horse Foundation to provide a retirement community for Champion horses of both the sporting world as well as of our own hearts is a great way to give something back to our equine friends who have given us a lifetime of priceless adventures and happiness that could never be duplicated. The well deserved recognition and honor that the SPSHF will bring to our partners will be priceless.

When the foundation approached me about their vision of a retirement facility and a hall of fame, Edgar XII came to mind. He is my current Grand Prix horse, a privilege to ride, and what a tribute for him to be held in history along with his story. I wish The Southern Pines Sport Horse Foundation the best of luck.

I personally cannot imagine a better idea than to have a place for the memory and past glories of our show horses. A place where people can go and read about and share in the great moments of horse show/sport history. And what a great idea to retire them right there on the premises. It's like a living museum for all of us.

I share your vision for providing a place for horses to retire and live out their lives in safety, comfort, and with dignity. Your concept of providing an area to include memories about each horse is a wonderful way to ensure that the legacy of each horse carries on and becomes a part of history. I am also pleased that your vision is to accept horses from all walks of life, not just show horses, as each horse has touched someone's life in a special way that should be acknowledged. Congratulations on your endeavor and continued success with the project.
